Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Shadow & Sun (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) operates shadowandsun.app, which offers Rise (a career-interest assessment based on the Holland RIASEC framework), Ascent (a workplace skills scorecard), Daybreak (a spoken AI mock interview) and personalised reports. By creating an account, signing in through an invitation, or buying credits you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and minors

Accounts may only be created by people aged 18 or older. Assessments for anyone under 18 must be administered by a parent or legal guardian from the adult’s account, with the guardian’s explicit consent recorded before the assessment begins. Only the minor’s first name is stored with their results.

3. What you are buying

You buy Shadow & Sun credits and spend them on our assessments and on the Daybreak interview simulation. 1 credit is ₹1, and payments of ₹1,000 or more include 20% extra credits. Payments are in Indian Rupees (INR) and processed by Cashfree Payments. New accounts receive welcome credits; welcome credits given to students of a partner institution can only be used on the assessments they are given for. Each finished test also includes a limited number of questions to Dawn, our AI assistant, about that result.

Credits are valid for 45 days from the last time credits were added to your account, are personal to your account, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash, and can only be used on shadowandsun.app. Credits we give for feedback, referrals or promotions follow the same rules. The credit price of each test, and the rules for Daybreak attempts, are shown before you spend credits and in our Refund Policy. Daybreak interviews use credits the moment you press Start. If you do not pass round 1, we keep 100 credits and return the rest of what that interview cost to your wallet; if you do not pass round 2 or round 3, the interview is not refunded. Referral rewards are for genuine new users who complete a test with care; credits earned through fake or duplicate accounts, or rushed answers, may be removed. Only invite people you know and who are happy to receive an email from us. Rewriting a report for new locations uses credits each time (returned automatically if the rewrite fails). Buying credits may be temporarily unavailable; welcome and earned credits can still be used.

We may issue promotional coupon codes, including multi-use codes distributed through campuses, institutions, or partners, that reduce or waive the price. Unless stated otherwise, each code may be redeemed once per user account, regardless of how many total uses the code allows. Coupon codes carry no cash value, cannot be exchanged or resold, and we reserve the right to limit, modify, or deactivate any code at any time. Reports obtained by circumventing coupon limits (for example, through multiple accounts) may be revoked without refund.

3a. Invitations from your institution

Your college or employer may ask us to invite you. We then create an account for the email address it provides; you confirm it is yours with a one-time code sent to that inbox and choose your own password. The account is personal to you. As explained in our Privacy Policy, your individual reports stay private to you; the inviting institution may receive an overall summary for its batch, without individual results. Invitation links expire 14 days after they are sent.

4. Not counselling or advice

Our assessments and reports are decision-support tools for self-exploration. They are not psychological testing, medical advice, formal career counselling, or a guarantee of aptitude or outcomes. Narrative sections and interview feedback are generated with the help of AI language models and may contain inaccuracies. Daybreak is a practice simulation: its interviewers, companies and outcomes are not real job offers or hiring decisions. Use the reports as one input among many, not as a directive.

5. Acceptable use

An account can be signed in on one device at a time: signing in on a new device signs the previous one out. You agree not to share your account, resell or redistribute reports, attempt to bypass payment, coupon or referral limits, probe or disrupt the Service, or use automated tools to scrape it. Take assessments honestly and keep to academic integrity and professional conduct in AI interviews. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms; genuine purchases on a suspended account will be refunded per our Refund Policy.

6. Our rights

To operate and protect the Service, Shadow & Sun reserves the right to: collect, store, and process the information you provide as described in our Privacy Policy; modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service; change prices and promotional offers for future purchases; enforce usage and coupon limits; and take reasonable measures to protect its legitimate interests, its users, and its systems against fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access. These rights are exercised in accordance with applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

7. Your content and our IP

You retain rights to the information you provide. Your report is for your personal, non-commercial use. The assessment items, scoring methodology, report design, and all site content remain our intellectual property and may not be reproduced without permission.

8. Liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes and termination

We may update these terms as the Service evolves; material changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes. Questions about these terms: connect@shadowandsun.app.
